2017 is long gone but I still wanted to come on here to talk about the best beauty advise I learned from the past year. I worked the whole year in Sephora and got to learn many things about both makeup and skincare. So I would say that my knowledge in the beauty world for sure got way bigger last year and here is what I learned about in 2017.
It sounds dramatic and that’s only because it really makes a difference. Okay, I’m also kinda dramatic so don’t mind me. Tinting my brows is not something I had ever thought about before a Benefit Brow Bar opened in my Sephora store. One day the Sales Manager from Benefit asked me if she could tint and wax my brows because she didn’t like the look of my brows. I said of course and got in the seat. What I didn’t know is that I was in for a painful but amazing ride.
I’m not the one who jump on the challenge bandwagon but this one was just too challenging to pass on. A full face using only one palette, also foundation, concealer and contour. So I decided to try it out and see how much I would fail.
Usually I do very bold looks on my channel because I love makeup and I love being creative. Because I’m working as a makeup artist it is fun to do some crazy looks to learn new techniques. In my every day life I often wear very neutral makeup because I’m often in a rush or I don’t need to wear a lot of makeup.
Hello and welcome to my series Becoming a Makeup Artist. In this series you will learn how is it to be a makeup artist, the ups and downs, how to become a makeup artist, what you need, if it’s really necessary to get certified, how to get a job, how to build your portfolio and kit and everything in between.
This is my story of becoming a makeup artist and I want to give you all the tips that I have learned over the years. The series will consist of 10 blogposts – one each Saturday. So I hope that you will enjoy it.
Being a makeup artist is something that I have always wanted to become. It has been on my bucket list since I was very young. In 2016 I got a job as a makeup artist and in 2017 I became a certified makeup artist. So yes, it is actually possible to get a job as a makeup artist without a certificate.
I was never one of those girls who was in love with Marc Jacobs bags, laptop sleeves, iPhone cases and all the other things he designed. I thought they were a bit gimmicky. When I heard that he was launching a makeup line I wasn’t impressed either. You are free to call me a pessimist, because that’s my true self 89% of the time.
Do you remember the time when all the makeup that was launched was matte? That the cool kids were buying matte foundations and lipsticks even if they had dry skin and chapped lips? I remember those times and I actually still have some matte foundations that never even suited my skintype. Money well spent!
RawBeautyKristi has been a huge inspiration for me lately. It has been refreshing to see a Youtuber who shares a real side of their life and now just how perfect everything is. Right now that was just what I needed on YouTube, because everything just gets too pretty and fake sometimes.
