Do you want to know what it takes to become a good makeup artist? Or do you just want to know how to get good at applying makeup? I will give you all the tea right here.
Practice does make perfect
When it comes to how to become good at applying makeup, it’s really all in the practicing. Of course it requires talent and passion. But you get no where without practise. You need to put in the hours before you can become good. That’s the same for all things in life. So if you really want to be an amazing makeup artist, clean your brushes and start beating some faces. With makeup, not actually beating people’s faces. That would not be very nice.
Less is more
This is one of the greatest tips I have ever gotten. When I go in with contour, eyeshadow or whatever it is, I really go in. I pack on product and I go ham. But that it’s the best way to do makeup. It’s actually the worst way to do makeup. So less is more. It’s easier do build things up and to go in a few times to get the desired look. I never thought of it that way. I always took the product I needed and applied it at once. But the best thing is really to build everything up. It takes a little more time, but the outcome is soooo much better. That I promise you. Another great tip is to hold at the very end of your brush. That will make you use a lighter hand and give everything a more natural and blended look.
How to become good at applying makeup
If you really want to become good at applying makeup, you need to do makeup looks all day every day. Practice until you have every technique down. Do it until you only dream about cut creases and blending. And of course blend until your arms hurt.
